During his first months in Paris, finding a very enthusiastic audience in the salon of the Rotschild family was a determining experience for Chopin. The Rothschilds came to like him so much that they asked him to give piano lessons for their daughter, Charlotte.

A few years later when Charlotte was preparing for her wedding, his teacher’s wedding gift was the Ballade in F minor inspired by Mickiewicz’s poem. This ballade will be included in the programme of Balázs Fülei’s solo recital in Paris on April 20th in the Hungarian Institute of Paris..
